Fire

When the fire bell sounds evacuate the building immediately and go to your assembly point

If you notice a fire and the automatic alarm has not already gone off

  1. Sound fire alarm
  2. Evacuate
  3. Call 9-999 from internal phone or 999 from mobile

Serious injury

Call 9-999 from internal phone or 999 from mobile

Minor injury

Floods

Floods must be stopped promptly as they can cause a risk of electrocution, power cuts, expensive damage to safety systems and lab equipment, and irreplaceable damage to experimental work.

Flood – normal hours

  1. Call janitors on 3777 (internal) or 01334 463777 from mobile or Chris Goodsell on extension 3794.
  2. If it is safe to do so then you should investigate the cause of the flood and if possible isolate the source of the problem.

Flood – outwith normal hours

  1. Call out-of-hours janitors on 3985 (internal) or 01334 463985 from mobile.
  2. If it is safe to do so then you should investigate the cause of the flood and if possible isolate the source of the problem.
